George Town is the capital of the Cayman Islands , a British overseas territory . It has 28,089 inhabitants (as of 2010) and is located on the island of Grand Cayman .

The city is the banking center of the Cayman Islands. The city is considered the fifth largest financial center in the world. Most internationally active banks, including the largest German ones, have branches here. Close to the city are cruise ship docks and the Owen Roberts International Airport . Many offices of government administration are also located in George Town, such as that of the Leader of Government Business , which roughly corresponds to the head of government .
