final

August 27, 2015, 7:00 p.m. local time (1:00 p.m. CEST )

The Polish world record holder Anita Włodarczyk was the clear favorite for this competition . She was the Olympic champion in 2012 , the double European champion of 2012 / 2014 , the 2009 World Champion and Vice World Champion 2013 . The Russian defending champion Tatjana Lyssenko was not at the start. Other medal candidates were mainly the Chinese Zhang Wenxiu - third in the 2011/2013 World Cup , second in the Olympic Games in 2008 , third in the Olympic Games in 2012, the Slovakian Vice European Champion in 2012/2014 Martina Hrašnová and the Chinese Wang Zheng in fourth in the 2013 World Cup Years of very successful German thrower Betty Heidler no longer had the shape of earlier times.

Włodarczyk dominated the competition after two rounds at the latest, as she wanted. Already in lap one she had taken the lead with 74.40 m. The really big distances then began with her second litter, which landed at 78.52 m. She exceeded the 80-meter mark twice. Her furthest attempt went up to 80.85 m, so she exceeded Lyssenko's championship record from 2013 by more than two meters.

In the battle for second place, Zhang Wenxiu prevailed. She achieved 76.33 m with her best throw in the fourth round and was more than four meters behind world champion Anita Włodarczyk. Quite surprisingly, the Frenchwoman Alexandra Tavernier won the bronze medal. Her 74.02 m from lap one was enough. Sophie Hitchon finished fourth with a new British record of 73.86 m. She achieved her best distance with her last litter, but had already been in fourth place. Only three centimeters behind the Briton, Wang Zheng took fifth place in front of the two Germans Kathrin Klaas and Betty Heidler. Zalina Marghieva from the Republic of Moldova came in eighth.
