DeAnna Marie Price (born June 8, 1993 in St. Charles , Missouri ) is an American hammer thrower .

Athletic career

DeAnna Price gained her first international experience in 2012 at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where she was eliminated with 57.82 m in qualification. In 2015 she took part in the Pan American Games in Toronto for the first time and finished fourth there with 68.84 m and then won the silver medal behind her compatriot Amber Campbell at the NACAC Championships in San José with 71.27 m . So she qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated with 68.69 m in the qualification . The following year she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and made it to the finals , where she finished eighth with a width of 70.95 m. At the 2017 World Championships in London , she was ninth in the final with 70.04 m .

In 2018 she triumphed for the first time at the US Championships in Des Moines with a continental record of 78.12 m. She also won with 74.60 m at the NACAC Championships in Toronto and then with 75.46 m at the Continental Cup in Ostrava . The following year she repeated her victory from the previous year at the US Championships in Des Moines and improved her record to 78.24 m and is currently (as of September 2019) third on the all-time world best list. She was therefore also the top favorite for the World Championships in Doha , where she lived up to her role with 77.54 m in the final and also won the first US medal in this discipline.

In 2018 and 2019 Price was American hammer throw champion and 2018 indoor weight throw champion. In addition, she secured the college title in 2015 and 2016.
