Hanna Oleksandriwna Skydan ( Ukrainian Ганна Олександрівна Скидан ; Azerbaijani Anna Skidan ; born May 14, 1992 in Krasnyj Lutsch , Ukraine ) is an Azerbaijani hammer thrower of Ukrainian origin.

Athletic career

In 2009 Hanna Skydan was twelfth at the Youth World Championships in Brixen and in 2010 she was eliminated from the qualification at the Junior World Championships in Moncton . In 2011 she did not succeed in qualifying at the European Junior Championships in Tallinn . In 2012 she qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated in qualification . After the Games, Skydan became an Azerbaijani citizen and was therefore not allowed to participate in any international competitions until 2014.

In 2015 she won the Student World Games in Gwangju for Azerbaijan with 70.67 m. This was followed by participation in the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated again in the qualification. In 2016 she won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Amsterdam . At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she was eliminated again in the preliminary round . In 2017, she improved her record at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku to 75.29 m, winning the gold medal and qualifying for the World Championships in London , where she finished fifth in the final . At the 2019 World Athletics Championships , she finished in 7th place after a 4th place in the qualification in the final.
