Krasnyj Lutsch (Ukrainian Красний Луч - Ukrainian officially since May 12, 2016 Khrustalnyj / Хрустальний ; Russian Красный Луч / Krasny Lutsch , literally "red rays of light") is a city in Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine . The city on the Mius , in the center of the Donets Basin , has around 80,000 inhabitants (2012).

The entire municipality of Krasnyj Luch has 124,033 inhabitants (November 2012), is directly subordinate to the oblast administration and is completely enclosed by the Antrazyt Rajon , administratively divided into the actual city of Krasnyj Luch and the three other cities

history

The city was founded in 1895 as Krindachevka (Russian Криндачевка) and has been called Krasnyj Lutsch since 1920 .

In the city there was a prisoner of war camp 256 for German prisoners of war of the Second World War .

Since the summer of 2014, the city has been occupied by separatist units from the Lugansk People's Republic .

Economy and Infrastructure

Krasnyj Lutsch is characterized by coal mining. In addition, the city is a center of mechanical engineering and the location of a meat combine.

There is a railway connection to the Otscheretyne – Swerewo railway line .
