Iswaryne ( Ukrainian Ізварине ; Russian Изварино Iswarino ) is an urban-type settlement on the banks of the Velyka Kamjanka ( Велика Кам'янка ) in the far east of the Ukrainian Luhansk Oblast at the border crossing to the Russian Rostov Oblast .

The village, founded in 1914, has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1938 and has around 1700 (2012) inhabitants.

The M 04 trunk road runs through Isvaryne, which at the population census in 1959 still had 5483 inhabitants, and leads behind the Russian border as the A260 to the Russian city of Donetsk , about 10 km away . Krasnodon, to whose municipality the settlement belongs administratively, is about 10 km to the west and the oblast capital Luhansk 55 km to the northwest, the urban-type settlement Krasnodarskyj (5 km to the northeast) belongs to the settlement council of the same name .

Two people were killed when an Antonov of the Ukrainian Air Force was shot down on July 14, 2014 over Iswarine at an altitude of over 6,000 meters.

On August 22, 2014, according to the OSCE , about a hundred of almost 300 trucks in a Russian "aid convoy" crossed the Ukrainian border at Isvaryne without the consent of the Ukrainian government and the Red Cross , in what Ukraine called a "direct invasion ", a violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and called a "violation of international law".
