Kreminna ( Ukrainian Кремінна ; Russian Кременная Kremennaja ) is a city in Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine with around 20,000 inhabitants (2014). Kreminna is the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .
geography
Kreminna is located on the bank of the Krasna River in the Donets Basin in the south of Kreminna Raion 130 km northwest of the Luhansk Oblast center . The closest major city is Sjevjerodonetsk and is 50 km away.

The municipality consists of the city of Kreminna itself with an area of 1572 ha and the settlements :

history
Kreminna was founded in 1733. From April to November 1918 the place was occupied by Austro-German troops. On October 28, 1938, Kreminna received city status. On July 10, 1942, the city was occupied by Wehrmacht troops and liberated by Red Army troops on January 31, 1943 after heavy fighting .
