Nyschnje

Nyschnje (Ukrainian Нижнє ; Russian Нижнее / Nischneje ) is an urban-type settlement in the east of Ukraine with about 2,600 inhabitants.

The place is located in the west of the Luhansk Oblast in Popasna Raion about 25 kilometers northeast of the Raion capital Popasna and 55 kilometers northwest of the Oblast capital Luhansk on the south bank of the Siversky Donets .

Nyschnje was founded in 1754 by Serbian and Croatian soldiers who settled here with their families in the military administrative area of Slavic Serbia , as well as farmers from right-wing Ukraine .

Until October 7, 2014 the place was part of the municipality of Pervomaysk , after which it was incorporated into the Popasna Raion . On February 11, 2015 still parts of the settlement council area of Frunze with the village were then Scholobok / Жолобок, previously part of the Rajons Slovianoserbsk connected to the municipal council area.

On November 6, 2014, during the war in eastern Ukraine, there were firefights with the separatists in which one soldier was killed and two wounded.
