Faschtschiwka (Ukrainian Фащівка ; Russian Фащевка / Faschtschewka ) is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine with about 2500 inhabitants.
geography
The place is located in the southwest of the Luhansk Oblast on the river Dschwendscherka (Дженджерка) about 33 kilometers northwest of the Rajon capital Antracyt and 59 kilometers southwest of the Oblast capital Luhansk . The border with Donetsk Oblast is about 5 kilometers southwest of the town.
history
The place was founded in 1773 by settlers from the Belgorod area , later migrants from Moldova also came. In 1957 the place was finally named an urban-type settlement. Since 1991 it has been part of what is now Ukraine.
Since the summer of 2014, the town has been occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic during the war in Ukraine .
