Novooleksandriwka ( Ukrainian Новоолександрівка ; Russian Новоалександровка Novoalexandrovka ) is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine with about 1,600 inhabitants.

The place in the Luhansk Oblast is located on the Velyka Kamjanka , a 118 kilometer long tributary of the Siversky Donets about 11 kilometers west of the Rajons capital Krasnodon and 40 kilometers southeast of the Oblast capital Luhansk . Nowooleksandriwka forms administratively together with the village Dubiwka ( Дубівка ) a settlement council municipality.

history

Nowooleksandrivka was founded in the 17th century by the Zaporozhian Cossacks , in the 19th century the place was called Novoalexandrovka and in 1938 it was finally appointed an urban-type settlement.

Since the summer of 2014, the town has been occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic during the war in Ukraine .
