Tschornuchyne (Ukrainian Чорнухине ; Russian Чернухино / Tschernuchino ) is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine with about 6400 inhabitants.
geography
The place in the Luhansk Oblast is on the river Tschornucha (Чорнуха), about 35 kilometers south of the Rajonshauptstadt Popasna , 26 kms southwest of the former Rajonshauptstadt Perevalsk and 60 kilometers west of the Oblasthauptstadt Luhansk area. The Otscheretyne – Swerewo railway runs through the village with a train station in the local area.
Tschornuchyne forms administratively together with the settlements Kruhlyk (Круглик) and Mius (Міус) a settlement council.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1600, is listed as Sloboda in 1778 and named as a village in 1892. It has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1938, on October 4, 2014 the place, which until then belonged to the Perewalsk Raion , together with the two settlements belonging to the settlement council, became part of the Popasna Raion.
The place has been contested in the course of the war in Ukraine since summer 2014 , but only came to the separatist areas of the Lugansk People's Republic in the course of the fighting over Debaltseve .
