Uspenka (Ukrainian and Russian Успенка ) is an urban-type settlement in the south of the Ukrainian Luhansk Oblast with about 8,900 inhabitants.
The place belongs administratively to the district Lutuhyne , the district center Lutuhyne is located 4 kilometers northeast, the oblast capital Luhansk is located 20 kilometers northeast of the place.
The settlement council of the same name also includes the settlement of Myrne (Мирне), through which the Vilchivka River (Вільхівка) flows.
Uspenka was founded in 1755 so Wilchowa (Вільхова), was then renamed to its current name in 1764 and was given the status of an urban-type settlement in 1938. Since the summer of 2014, the town has been occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic during the war in Ukraine . The local coal mine has existed since 1802, but is only in operation on a small scale due to the exhausted raw materials.
