Selyshche
A Selyschtsche (Ukrainian Селище ), which in German means a settlement or literally a village, is a place in Ukraine that is not located within a traditional village (Selo, Ukrainian Село ), but represents a new settlement outside the village. Currently (2006) there are 1,364 of these settlements in Ukraine.
The term also exists in Bulgaria as a geographical settlement within a rajon, but it is transcribed from Bulgarian with Selishte and is an umbrella term for settlement.
