Jasseniwskyj (Ukrainian Ясенівський ; Russian Ясеновский / Jassenowski ) is an urban-type settlement in the south of the Ukrainian Luhansk Oblast with about 9,000 inhabitants.
Administratively, the place belongs to the municipality of Rowenky, which is 15 kilometers south-east, and forms its own settlement council to which the village of Krasnyj Kolos (Красний Колос), the oblast capital Luhansk is located 45 kilometers northeast of the place, north of the place flows the Mala Kamjanka river ( Мала Кам'янка).
Yasseniwskyj was founded in 1892 as a miners' settlement, initially had the name Lobowka (Russian and Ukrainian Лобовка) and was elevated to an urban-type settlement in 1938, at the same time the place was in Shakhty No. 33-37 (Шахти N33-37), 1954 The name is then changed to the current name, which is derived from the Ukrainian word "Jassen" (Ясен) for ash. Since the summer of 2014, the town has been occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic during the war in Ukraine .
