Kalynowe (Ukrainian Калинове ; Russian Калиново / Kalinowo ) is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine with about 3,000 inhabitants.
geography
The place is located in the Luhansk Oblast north of the Luhan River (Лугань), about 13 kilometers southeast of the Raion capital Popasna and 57 kilometers west of the Oblast capital Luhansk .
Kalynowe administratively forms together with the villages Kalynowe-Borschuwate (Калинове-Борщувате) and Nowoolexandriwka (Новоолександрівка) the settlement council of the same name Kalynowe.
history
The place was founded in 1720 and received urban-type settlement status in 1938.
In the summer of 2014 there were fighting in the village during the war in Ukraine , in October the area was evacuated by the Ukrainian armed forces and occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic .
