Kripenskyj (Ukrainian Кріпенський ; Russian Крепенский / Krepenski ) is an urban-type settlement in the south of the Ukrainian Luhansk Oblast with about 6,900 inhabitants.
Administratively, the place belongs to the municipality of the city of Antrazyt, 4 kilometers northwest, and forms its own settlement council here, the oblast capital Luhansk is 58 kilometers north of the place, the Kripenka (Кріпенька) river runs through the place .
Kripenskyj comes from a mining settlement for the surrounding coal pits, the name derives from the western hamlet Malo-Kripenskyj (Мало-Кріпенський) (founded in 1777). It was elevated to an urban-type settlement in 1938 and has been occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic since summer 2014 during the war in Ukraine .
