Miusynsk (Ukrainian Міусинськ ; Russian Миусинск / Miusinsk ) is a city in eastern Ukraine with about 5,000 inhabitants.
The place is in the west of the Luhansk Oblast , about 7 kilometers south of the city of Krasnyj Lutsch and 60 kilometers southwest of the Oblast capital Luhansk on the river Dowschyk (Довжик).
The 3 villages Korinne (Корінне), Lisne (Лісне) and Novojelysawetiwka (Новоєлизаветівка) also belong to the city council, which in turn is part of the municipality of Krasnyj Lutsch .
Miusynsk was founded as Novo Pawlowka in 1887 and renamed Miusynsk in 1965 because of its proximity to the Mius River . In 1938 the place received the status of a settlement, in 1965 it was finally granted city status.
Since summer 2014, the city has been occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic during the war in Ukraine .
