Brandon Starc (born November 24, 1993 in Baulkham Hills ) is an Australian high jumper .

Athletic career

Brandon Starc gained his first international experience at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where he won the silver medal with 2.19 m. In 2012 he qualified for the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where he finished sixth with 2.17 m. In 2013 he took part in the World Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated with 2.17 m in qualification. In 2014 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time and was eighth there with 2.21 m. A year later he qualified again for the World Championships in Beijing , where he set up his personal best of 2.31 m in qualification . In the final, he only jumped 2.25 m and finished twelfth.

In 2016 he took part in the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , where he finished 15th in the final with a height of 2.20 m. In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and won the gold medal there with a new personal best of 2.32 m ahead of the Bahamian Jamal Wilson . On August 26, he won the international high jump meeting in Eberstadt with a personal best and setting the national record of 2.36 m.

In 2013, 2015 and 2018 Starc was the Australian high jump champion.
