Leninske (Ukrainian Ленінське - Ukrainian officially since May 12, 2016 Valjaniwske / Вальянівське ; Russian Ленинское / Leninskoje ) is an urban-type settlement in the south of the Ukrainian Luhansk Oblast with about 3,400 inhabitants.
The place belongs administratively to the municipality of the 6 kilometers west lies the city of Sverdlovsk , forming its own municipal council municipality which includes the village Malowedmesche (Маловедмеже) and the settlements Fedoriwka (Федорівка) and Ustyniwka (Устинівка) count the Oblasthauptstadt Luhansk is located 56 kilometers north of The river Mala Medwescha (Мала Медвежа) has its source in the village .
Leninske was founded in 1900 as a train station settlement Valjanow (Russian Вальянов), in 1903 the first coal mines were built and from 1932 the place was named Shakhty No. 9 imeni Lenina (шахти № 9 імені Леніна), in 1938 the place was elevated to an urban-type settlement and received its current name in 1944, and since summer 2014 the place has been occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic during the war in Ukraine .
