Krasnodon

Krasnodon (Ukrainian and Russian Краснодон - Ukrainian officially Teple / Тепле since May 12, 2016 ) is an urban-type settlement in the east of the Ukrainian Luhansk Oblast with about 5,000 inhabitants.

Administratively, the place belongs to the municipality of the city of Krasnodon, located 13 kilometers to the east, and forms its own settlement council to which the settlement Switlytschne (Світличне) belongs, the oblast capital Luhansk is 31 kilometers northwest of the place.

Krasnodon was founded in 1910 as Katerynodon (Катеринодон), renamed Krasnodon in 1922 and raised to urban-type settlement in 1938. Since the summer of 2014, the town has been occupied by separatists from the Lugansk People's Republic during the war in Ukraine .
