Pawel Afanassjevitch Stolbow ( Russian Павел Афанасьевич Столбов * thirtieth August 1929 in Krasnyi Luch ; † 15. June 2011 ) was a Soviet gymnast .

Pawel Afanassjewitsch Stolbow started for CSKA Moscow . His greatest international success was the participation in the 1956 Summer Olympics from Melbourne . It was used in eight disciplines. With the Soviet team relay he won the Olympic gold medal alongside Viktor Chukarin , Yuri Titow , Valentin Muratow , Albert Azaryan and Boris Schachlin . In the eventing competition, he was as bad tester Soviet starter 14, on floor 16, at jump 28, the bars 41, the triangle together with Chukarin fourth and was on the rings 12 and seventh on pommel horse . At the World Gymnastics Championships in 1958 in Moscow, Stolbow won the bronze medal on parallel bars behind Schachlin and Takashi Ono , and on pommel horse he was second behind Schachlin. He also successfully took part in the 1962 World Gymnastics Championships in Prague . On the horizontal bar he won the bronze medal behind Ono and Yukio Endo . At the European Championships in Copenhagen in 1959 , he won the horizontal bar title.
