Vanløse is a district in the west of the Danish capital Copenhagen . Vanløse has a population of 37,115, making it the smallest district in terms of population in Copenhagen. According to the statistics office of the municipality of Copenhagen, the proportion of foreign residents in Vanløse is 10.5%. This is the lowest value of all ten city districts recorded in Copenhagen. The value is 6.2% below the figure recorded for the whole of Copenhagen.

Neighboring communities
Vanløse borders the Brønshøj-Husum district in the north and Frederiksberg municipality in the east. In the north-east is the border with the Bispebjerg district . In the south Vanløse borders on the Valby district . The municipality of Rødovre extends west of the Vanløse district.
history
The earliest mention of the place is known from the year 1186. The name Huanlose, which later becomes the name Vanløse, is in a letter from Pope Urban III. called to the Archbishop Absalon. The city of Copenhagen took over Lake Damhus in 1810 to supply the capital with water. It was used to supply drinking water until 1893. On November 13, 1876, Parliament decided to set up a railway line from Copenhagen to Frederikssund via Frederiksberg and Vanløse. The railway line was inaugurated in 1879, but Vanløse did not get a stop until 1898.
Rock musician Van Morrison lived with his Danish partner in Vanløse from 1980 to 1983. His 1982 album Beautiful Vision contains a song called Vanlose Stairway ( Eng . "Vanløse staircase")
Incorporations
On January 1, 1901 Vanløse was in the municipality of Copenhagen incorporated .

Culture and sights
Natural monuments
Damhus Sø (Damhus Lake) was created when the creeks Harrestrup Å and Grøndalså were dammed. The lake was then created as a water reservoir for Copenhagen. The lake has an area of 46 hectares. Adjacent is the Damhus meadow.
Regular events
Every Saturday from April to October from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Vanløse torv (a market square in Jernbane Allé) there is a flea market with mainly retro items.

The vanløse station is the starting point for the lines M1 and M2 metro. S-Bahn trains and buses also stop here.
