Attractions
The most striking buildings in Bispebjerg are the Grundtvig Church and Bispebjerg Hospital, one of the five major hospitals in Copenhagen .
The Bispebjerg Kollegiet - a student residence of the University of Copenhagen - is also located there. A particularly striking building is the "Bispebjerg Bakke", the unusual shape of which was created in collaboration with the sculptor Bjørn Nørgaard . The building consists of two structures that blend into the landscape like a snake. The number of floors varies between three and eight-story structures, which further reinforce this effect. The materials used are yellow and red bricks, the window frames are made of wood and the roofs are made of copper. The interiors of Bispebjerg Bakke are also curved, with sloping walls, convex-shaped windows and concave-shaped balconies. Special emphasis was placed on the natural incidence of light in the interior design in order to achieve a spatial, physical and visual effect.
Bispebjerg Kirkegård
On the Bispebjerg Kirkegård ( cemetery ), which is the highest point of the city lying on a hill, there is a separate facility for 1190 fallen from the Second World War . 964 Germans rest in the German war cemetery in Copenhagen Bispebjerg , of whom 594 were refugees and 370 soldiers.
