Vladimir Prokofievich Valuev

Wladimir Prokofjewitsch Walujew ( Russian Владимир Прокофьевич Валуев ; born July 16, 1947 in Krasnyj Lutsch , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian admiral . From 2001 to 2006 he was the commander of the Baltic fleet .

Life

In 1969, Valuyev graduated from the Naval War College for submariners "Lenin's Komsomol". He then served as combat section commander for missiles / artillery armament (GA-2) on the conventional submarine "S-44" of Project 644 and later as commander for combat sections GA-2 and GA-3 (mine / torpedo armament). In 1971 he became an officer on watch on the submarine "K-70" of Project 651 . From 1974, after completing higher officer courses , he served as first officer on a nuclear submarine cruiser and in 1978 became the commander of the nuclear submarine "K325" of Project 670 of the Northern Fleet . After graduating from the Naval Warfare Academy in 1983 , Valuev was initially employed as deputy commander and from 1988 as commander of a submarine division of the Pacific Fleet . From 1991 to 1993 he was an officer auditor at the Voroshilov Military Academy of the General Staff and, after graduating, was appointed Chief of Staff and 1st Deputy Commander of the 4th submarine flotilla in Primorye . After the flotilla was transformed into a squadron , Rear Admiral Valuev became its first commander. In 1996 he was promoted to Vice Admiral and became Deputy Chief of Staff in the Russian Naval Fleet . By order of the Defense Minister of the Russian Federation on November 20, 1996, he was appointed 1st Deputy Commander of the Baltic Fleet. After Admiral Yegorov was elected governor of Kaliningrad Oblast in November 2000, Valuev took over his duties as commander of the Baltic fleet. By order no. 415 of the President of the Russian Federation of April 11, 2001, he was appointed commander of the Baltic Fleet and promoted to admiral on December 11, 2001. On May 20, 2006, he was released into retirement for health reasons and replaced by Vice Admiral Sidenko as commander of the Baltic Fleet.

Valuev is married and has two daughters.
