Order of bravery

The Order of Bravery ( Russian Орден Мужества ) is a state award of Russia . It was donated on March 2, 1994 by Ukas No. 442 of the President of the Russian Federation .

Statute

According to the statute, the award is given to Russian citizens for selflessness, bravery and courage during the protection of the social order, the fight against crime, the rescue of people in natural disasters, fires or other emergencies. In addition, they can be awarded for courageous and decisive action at risk of death while performing military, civil or other official duties. The medal can also be used to honor foreigners for selflessness, bravery and courage while rescuing Russian citizens outside the Russian Federation in the event of natural disasters, fires or other emergencies.

The award can also be made posthumously. People who have been honored three times with the Order of Bravery can be honored as Heroes of the Russian Federation if they continue to act courageously, selflessly or bravely .

Description of the order

The silver medal in the form of a cross with axes of equal length has a relief-like edge and radial, relief-like attached rays. In the center the coat of arms of the Russian Federation is shown in relief . The reverse side with a relief-like edge shows the horizontal relief-like lettering "МУЖЕСТВО" (German "Bravery") and the serial number of the order. The distance between the ends of the cross is 40 mm. The red, 24 mm wide ribbon has 2 mm wide, white stripes on the edges.

The 8 mm high strap buckle is also 24 mm wide. A miniaturized representation of the medal made of silver-colored metal is attached to the rosette of the order of bravery. The distance between the ends of the cross is 13 mm, the diameter of the rosette 15 mm.

The decoration is worn on the left side of the chest and, if available, after the order of Nakhimov . On special occasions and for daily use on uniforms, the ribbon buckle of the order of bravery is also attached after the ribbon buckle of the Nakhimo order. The order's rosette is worn on the left side of the chest on civilian clothes.
