Wang Zheng ( Chinese  王 峥 , Pinyin Wáng Zhēng; born December 14, 1987 in Xi'an ) is a Chinese hammer thrower .

Athletic career

Wang Zheng gained his first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships in Macau . in which she won the gold medal with 60.16 m. She then took part in the Junior World Championships in Beijing and was there with 59.12 m in the final ninth. In 2008 she qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing and was eliminated there with 65.64 m in the qualification . In 2009 she won the East Asian Games in Hong Kong with a width of 67.06 m. The following year she won the silver medal at the Asian Games in Guangzhou with 68.17 m and only had to admit defeat to her compatriot Zhang Wenxiu .

In 2013 a victory at the Asian Championships in Pune with 72.78 m was followed by fourth place at the World Championships in Moscow with 74.90 m. Years later, the victorious Russian Tatjana Lyssenko was stripped of the gold medal for doping and was awarded bronze. On March 29, 2014, she set the current (as of 2018) Asian record in Chengdu with 77.68 m. At the Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech she was fourth, and at the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , she again took silver behind Zhang Wenxiu with 74.16 m. In 2015 she was fifth at the World Championships in Beijing with a width of 73.83 m in the final . In 2016 she qualified again for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she did not make a valid attempt in the final .

2017 she won at the world championships in London in the finals with a distance of 75.98 meters behind Anita Włodarczyk and above Malwina Kopron the silver medal. At the 2018 Asian Games in the Indonesian capital Jakarta , she won the silver medal for the third time with 70.86 m; this time behind her compatriot Luo Na . The following year she won the Asian Championships with a new championship record of 75.66 m. At the end of September, she won another bronze medal at the World Championships in Doha with 74.76 m, this time behind the Americans DeAnna Price and Joanna Fiodorow from Poland.

In 2014 and 2019, Wang became the Chinese hammer throw champion.
