final

August 24, 2015, 9:15 pm local time (3:15 pm CEST )

For this competition, the runners from Kenya were once again the favorites. Ezekiel Kemboi in particular had won all the major championships in recent years. In 2009 , 2011 and 2013 he became world champion and 2012 Olympic champion. Brimin Kipruto was world champion in 2007, vice world champion in 2011 and Olympic fifth in 2012. Conseslus Kipruto was vice world champion in 2013. Jairus Birech from Kenya was also there. One of the most serious opponents for the Kenyans, the French European champion Yoann Kowal, was eliminated in the preliminary stages. Above all, the American Evan Jager remained as a competitor for the Kenyans, who had distinguished himself with good results in the run-up.

The first laps of the race went at a leisurely pace - first km: 2: 49.50 min / second km: 2: 47.27 min. The field stayed close together, the runners moved widely in twos or threes side by side. The Kenyans and the two Americans were always at the front. From lap four it got a little faster. Three Kenyans led ahead of Jager, the Moroccan Brahim Taleb, Jager and the fourth runner from Kenya. But soon the leaders slowed down again, everything came together as closely as before.

It only got really fast on the last lap. Only Jager was able to follow the four Kenyans at first, while Taleb and even more the rest of the field fell further and further behind. On the back straight Kemboi sprinted to the front and tore a small gap to his opponents. But C. Kipruto came back on the target corner. B. Kipruto followed at a considerable distance, followed by Birech another six to seven meters behind. The decision to win was made at the last obstacle, which Kemboi mastered much better than C. Kipruto. So there was the same ranking in the first two places as in 2013. Ezekiel Kemboi was again world champion, Conseslus Kipruto vice world champion. Kemboi had covered the last kilometer in 2: 34.51 minutes. Brimin Kipruto crossed the finish line in third, Jairus Birech in fourth. So the Kenyans once again dominated the entire field of obstacle runners. The two Americans Daniel Huling and Evan Jager came in fifth and sixth, ahead of Brahim Taleb and the Canadian Matthew Hughes. The best European in ninth place was Krystian Zalewski from Poland.

Ezekiel Kemboi has already won his fourth world title since 2009. In addition, he was runner- up at the 2003 , 2005 and 2007 world championships and 2012 Olympic champion.
