Mohamed Ismail Ibrahim (born January 1, 1997 ) is a Djiboutian athlete who specializes in the obstacle course , but also competes in other medium and long distance distances.

Athletic career

Mohamed Ismail Ibrahim gained his first international experience in 2012 at the African Championships in Porto-Novo , where he finished 14th in the 5000 meter run in 14: 36.31 minutes. In the following year he reached sixth place at the African Youth Championships in Warri over 3000 meters in 8: 29.33 minutes, as well as in the 2000 meter obstacle course in 5: 59.31 minutes. In 2014 he took part in the 1,500 meter run at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , where he won the bronze medal in 3: 45.72 minutes. In 2015 he finished sixth in the obstacle course at the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa in 9: 47.38 min and then finished fifth at the Arab Championships in Madinat Isa in 8: 39.46 min. He also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , but did not start there at short notice. The following year he finished tenth at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz in 8: 42.38 minutes and then took part in the obstacle course at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but did not reach there with 5: 53.10 minutes the finale .

In 2017 he won the silver medal behind Moroccan Mohamed Tindouft at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku in 8: 31.59 minutes . He also secured the bronze medal behind the Moroccans Younès Essalhi and Soufiane Bouqantar over 5000 meters with a new personal best of 13: 29.29 minutes . He then won the Arab Championships in Radès in 3: 52.38 minutes over 1500 meters and in 8: 42.25 minutes in the obstacle course. In this discipline he qualified again for the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated with 8: 33.77 minutes in the lead . In 2018 he took part in the African Championships in Asaba and finished eleventh there with 8: 48.25 minutes. In the following year he finished fourth in the Arab Championships in Cairo in 8: 56.73 minutes and was eighth in the African Games in Rabat in 8: 42.59 minutes.
