Radès ( Arabic رادس, DMG Rādis ) is a port city in the Ben Arous governorate in Tunisia with 59,794 inhabitants ( 2014 census ). It is located around nine kilometers south-east of the capital Tunis and had around 45,000 inhabitants in 2004. The name originally comes from the time of the Carthaginians . Sometimes Radès is also counted as a suburb of the city of Tunis. Part of the capital's port facilities are located in Radès. The city has a large industrial area in which companies such as STEG, Pfaff, SMTT and Germanetti are based.

Sports

Radès is also home to the January 14th Stadium , the Tunisian national stadium, which is used for football and athletics events and is the home ground of the Tunisian national football team . Radès has a basketball culture, the Étoile Sportive de Radès club was founded in 1945 and won many championships in basketball.
