Evan Jager ( Evan Reese Jager; born March 8, 1989 in Algonquin , Illinois ) is an American obstacle course and long-distance runner .

Career

At the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin, Jager was eliminated over 5000 meters in the lead. He finished sixth at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, fifth at the 2013 World Championships in Daegu and second at the 2014 Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech.

In 2015, finishing second at the Areva meeting , he improved his North American record for the 3000 meter obstacle by more than four seconds to 8: 00.45 minutes, even though he stumbled at the last obstacle. At the World Championships in Beijing , he came in sixth place. From 2012 to 2015 he was US champion over 3000 meters obstacle four times in a row.

At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Jager won the silver medal in the 3000 meter obstacle course with 8: 04.28 minutes behind the Kenyan Conceslus Kipruto and in front of the defending champion from London Ezekiel Kemboi.

At the 2017 World Championships in London, Jager won the bronze medal behind Conceslus Kipruto and the Moroccan Soufiane Elbakkali with 8: 15.53 min in the 3000 meter hurdles after leading the race for a long time.
