The 3000-meter steeplechase of the men at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics was on 6 and 8 August 2001 in Commonwealth Stadium, the Canadian city of Edmonton held.

In this competition, the athletes from Kenya won two medals, gold and bronze. The 2000 Olympic champion, Reuben Kosgei , became world champion . The Moroccan Ali Ezzine won the silver medal here after bronze at the 2000 Olympic Games and the 1999 World Championships . Third place went to the World Cup -third of 1997 and world record holder Bernard Barmasai .
