The 100-meter hurdles for women in the 2001 World Championships in Athletics was from 9 to 11 August 2001 Commonwealth Stadium the Canadian city of Edmonton held.

In this competition, the US hurdlers achieved a double victory. Anjanette Kirkland
became world champion . She won before the highly decorated real favorite Gail Devers , two-time world champion in this discipline ( 1995 / 1999 ) and two-time World silver medalist ( 1991 / 1993 ). In addition, Devers was 100 meters two-time Olympic champion ( 1992 / 1996 ) and world champion of 1993.
