Kirsten Bolm
Kirsten Bolm (born March 4, 1975 in Frechen ) is a former German athlete who specialized in the 100-meter hurdles .
Life
Bolm grew up in Scheeßel , where she had been part of TV Scheeßel since 1985. In 1991 she won her first national title when she became youth champion over the hurdles and in the long jump . The following year she was fifth over the hurdles at the Junior World Championships in Seoul . In 1994 Bolm won gold at the Junior World Championships in Lisbon , and she also reached fifth place in the long jump.
In the adult area, Bolm became German runner-up in 1999 and qualified for the World Championships in Seville , where she was eliminated in the interim. The following year she became German champion for the first time. In 2001 she switched to LT DSHS Cologne . She was able to defend the national championship and took part in the World Championships in Edmonton . At the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 2002 , she won the silver medal over the 60 meter hurdles. At the European Championships in Munich , she was eliminated in advance.
From 2003 Bolm started for MTG Mannheim and trained with Rüdiger Harksen . In 2004 she took part in the Olympic Games in Athens and reached the intermediate run there. The following year she won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid . On July 22, 2005, she ran in London with 12.59 s, the fastest time of a German hurdler in 18 years. Shortly thereafter, she came fourth at the World Championships in Helsinki .
In Moscow , Bolm came fifth at the 2006 World Indoor Championships . In the open air she was German champion for the sixth time. At the European Championships in Gothenburg , Bolm was initially awarded the bronze medal behind Derval O'Rourke, who was also Irish at the same time . After a successful protest by the DLV , she also received the silver medal. In 2007 she won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham . After she could not qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing due to an injury , she ended her active career in 2008.
Bolm had a competition weight of 69 kg with a height of 1.81 m. She studied from 1997 to 2001 at Brigham Young University in the United States and received a Bachelor of Science (Psychology). She completed her studies in psychology at Heidelberg University in 2009 with a diploma.
