Robert Orth

Robert Orth (born February 18, 1968 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German politician ( FDP ). He works as a lawyer .

education

Orth graduated from high school in 1987. After completing his military service in the Air Force, he began training as a banker , which he successfully completed in 1990. Orth then began studying law at the University of Cologne , which he successfully completed with the first state examination in 1993 and the second state examination in 1996. After completing his studies, Orth founded the commercial law firm Orth Kluth in Düsseldorf. He is still active there as a partner and lawyer . In 1998 he received his doctorate in law with the topic The creation of shareholders in the sense of equity substitute law .

politics

Orth has been a member of the FDP since 1986. In 1993 he became a member of the FDP state committee in North Rhine-Westphalia and did not stand as a candidate until 2016. In 1993 and 1994 Orth was state chairman of the Young Liberals in North Rhine-Westphalia. From 1998 to 2016 Orth was Deputy Chairman of the Düsseldorf District Association. From 1999 to 2000 he was a member of the Düsseldorf city council. From 2004 onwards, Orth was chairman of the FDP district association in Düsseldorf for 10 years. He did not run again for the 2014 party congress, after which the delegates elected the former member of the Bundestag Bijan Djir-Sarai as his successor.

Robert Orth was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from June 2, 2000 to February 5, 2015 . During this time he was continuously chairman of the legal committee and from 2002 to 2005 deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In mid-January 2015, Orth announced that he wanted to prematurely resign from his state parliament mandate. As a reason, he stated that he did not want to run for another legislative period and wanted to give his successor the opportunity to take over his functions in the state parliament at an early stage. Orth has since concentrated on his work as a lawyer.
