The Tunxi Zhenhai Bridge (Old Bridge) was destroyed on July 7, 2020.

The floods in China began with the rainy season from May 2020. The cause was storms and heavy rains. Parts of the country in central and southern China were particularly affected.

As of August 13, 2020, 219 people were missing or dead; the dams of the Three Gorges Dam , which was put into operation in 2003, were still considered stable.
