The 400-meter hurdles for women in the 2001 World Championships in Athletics was from 5 to 8 August 2001 Commonwealth Stadium the Canadian city of Edmonton held.

The winner was the Moroccan world champion of 1997 , Vice World Champion 1999 , Olympic medalist in 2000 and two-time African champion ( 1990 / 1998 ) Nezha Bidouane . In 1990 she was also runner-up at the African Championships over 100 meter hurdles .
Silver won the Russian Julija Nossowa , later Julija Petschonkina, who came third on the final day with her country's 4 x 400 meter relay .
Bronze went to the Cuban defending champion Daimí Pernía .
