Sandra Glover ( Sandra Danice Glover , née Cummings ; born December 30, 1968 in Palestine , Texas ) is a former American hurdler .

The specialist in the 400 meter hurdles has been trying to qualify for major international competitions since 1992. She did this for the first time in 1999, when she became US champion over 400 m hurdles. At the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville, she finished fifth. From that season until 2003 she remained the best hurdler in the USA. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she was sixth and at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton fifth.

In June 2003, Glover was found to be an illicit doping agent, Modafinil , and received a warning. Shortly thereafter, she won the silver medal at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis. After failing to qualify for the 2004 Athens Olympics, it seemed like the end of her career. In 2005 she came back brilliantly as third in the US championships and in the final of the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , the 36-year-old runner ran a new personal best of 53.32 seconds and won the bronze medal.
