Daimí Pernía
Daimí Pernía (born December 27, 1976 in La Palma , Province of Pinar del Río ) is a former Cuban hurdler .
Daimí Pernía won gold in the 400-meter hurdles in 52.89 s at the 1999 World Championships in Seville . Her lead over runner-up Nezha Bidouane was a hundredth of a second. Daimí Pernía improved the Cuban national record for the seventh time in two years.
She could not improve this time in the following years. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she was fourth in 53.68 s. The following year she won bronze in 54.51 s at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton .
In late 2007, she ended her career after staying four seconds above her personal best in her final season with 56.89 seconds.
With a height of 1.73 m, her competition weight was 61 kg.
