The 50-km walk Men at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics was in the streets of the August 11, 2001 Canadian city of Edmonton held.

His second World Cup -Titel by 1997 won the triple Olympic champion (50 km: 1996 / 2000 - 20 km: 2000) and reigning European champion Robert Korzeniowski of Poland . In 1995 he also won bronze at the World Cup . Second place went to the Spanish world champion from 1993 and vice world champion from 1997 Jesús Ángel García . Bronze went to the Mexican Edgar Hernández .
