Maurizio Damilano (born April 6, 1957 in Scarnafigi ) is a former Italian walker and Olympic champion .

He made his international breakthrough at the age of 23 at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , where he immediately won the gold medal in the 20 km walk , ahead of Pyotr Potschintschuk from the Soviet Union and Roland Wieser from the GDR. At the following Olympic Games in 1984 in Los Angeles he was third behind the two Mexicans Ernesto Canto and Raúl González .

In 1986 he won the silver medal at the European Championships in Stuttgart behind Jozef Pribilinec from the ČSSR. At the 1987 World Championships in Rome , he won gold with a time of 1:20:45 h. In 1988 he was again able to win the bronze medal over 20 km at the Olympic Games in Seoul behind Pribilinec and Ronald Weigel from the GDR.

In 1991 he won his second world title at the World Championships in Tokyo in 1:19:37 h. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , Damilano took fourth place.
