Pyotr Pochinchuk
Peter Ivanovich Potschintschuk ( Russian Пётр Иванович Починчук ., English transcription Pyotr Pochinchuk * 23. July 1954 in Otschino, Malaryta District ; † 1. December 1991 ) was a Belarusian mountaineers who in the 1970s and 1980s for the Soviet Union on the 20 -km distance started .
At the European Athletics Championships in Prague in 1978 and at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, he won the silver medal.
In 1982 he was Soviet champion and tenth at the European Championships in Athens , in 1983 he came in 13th place at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki .
He set his best time of 1:20:28 h in fifth at the 1979 Walking World Cup.
An international walker competition has been held in Hrodna since 1998 in his memory .
