Daniel García (athlete)

Daniel García Córdova (born October 28, 1971 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican walker .

He first competed in the 1992 Olympic Games and finished seventh in the 20 km walk . At the World Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 and in Gothenburg in 1995 , he was each on a medal when he was disqualified by the judges. He finished the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta in nineteenth place on the 20 km course. In Atlanta, however, he was able to achieve his best international result in 50 km walking when he finished ninth in a personal best of 3:50:05 h.

He achieved his greatest success at the 1997 World Cup in Athens. For the first time he crossed the finish line at world championships and immediately won the title in 1:21:43 hours with a 10 second lead over Russian Michail Schchennikow . Two years later at the World Cup in Seville , he won bronze in 1:24:31 hours. At the Olympic Games in 2000 he was twelfth again.

In addition to his placements at the Olympic Games and World Championships, Daniel García won other medals over 20 km. He won the Universiade in 1995 and was runner-up in 1993. He was also runner-up in the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata in 1995 and in Winnipeg in 1999

Daniel García is 1.64 m tall and weighed 55 kg at competition times.
