Chen Ding (walker)

Chen Ding ( Chinese  陈 定 , Pinyin Chén Dìng ; born August 5, 1992 in Yunnan ) is a Chinese walker who became Olympic champion in 20 km in 2012 .

In 2008, Chen took second place in the 10 km walk at the World Cup in Cheboksary. He achieved the same placement in the 10,000-meter track going at the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz . Over 20 km, Chen finished fifth at the 2010 World Cup and ninth in 2012.

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , Chen won the gold medal in the 20 km walk and set an Olympic record with a time of 1:18:46 h. At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow , he was runner-up over 20 km.

Chen is 1.80 m tall, weighs 62 kg and is studying at the Technical University of South China in Guangzhou.
