Antonio David Jimenez

Antonio David Jiménez Pentinel (born February 18, 1977 in Seville ) is a Spanish obstacle runner .

In 1999 he was third in the 3000 meter obstacle course at the U23 European Championships. At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton , he was sixth, this placement he was able to repeat four years later at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki . He finished 14th in the final of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens .

While Jiménez could not win a medal in view of the Kenyan superiority at world championships, he was unbeatable in the rather slow and tactical final of the European Championships in Munich in 2002 . He won in 8: 24.34 minutes ahead of the Dutchman Simon Vroemen in 8: 24.45 minutes.

In the hall over 3000 meters he had already won the silver medal at the European Indoor Championships 2002 in Vienna behind his compatriot Alberto García .

In March 2014, the Spanish police arrested 13 people, including Jiménez, after investigations into a doping ring . Various doping substances were found in his apartment. He was banned for three years.

Antonio David Jiménez is 1.78 m tall and weighs 63 kg.
