Jean-Paul Villain

Jean-Paul Villain (born November 1, 1946 in Dieppe ) is a former French athlete who began his career in Dieppe. With a height of 1.70 m, his competition weight was 53 kg.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, Villain won his lead in the 3000 meter obstacle course ahead of Australian Kerry O'Brien . In the final he lost the connection early and was only ninth.

In Athens at the European Championships in 1969 , Villain finished fifth in 8: 33.4 minutes. Two years later at the European Championships in Helsinki Villain won the title with a new French record of 8: 25.2 minutes ahead of Dušan Moravčik from the ČSSR in 8: 26.2 minutes.

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Villain finished eleventh in 8: 46.8 minutes. At the European Championships in 1974 and at the Olympic Games in 1976 , he no longer reached the final.

Jean-Paul Villain was the French obstacle course champion in 1965, 1969–1971 and 1976.
