Raphaël Pujazon

Raphaël Pujazon (born February 18, 1918 in El Campillo in the Spanish province of Huelva , † February 23, 2000 in Alès ) was a French athlete. The 1.75 m tall and 61 kg heavy runner during his competition time was European champion in the obstacle course in 1946 .

From 1939 to 1950 Pujazon appeared on 18 occasions for the French national team. He was French champion in the 5000 meter run in 1941, 1942, 1944 and 1946, in 1944 he won the title in the 1500 meter run and in 1948 in the obstacle course. He won another six championship titles from 1944 to 1949 in cross-country skiing.

At the European Championships in Oslo in 1946 , he won the 3000-meter obstacle course with a French record of 9: 01.4 minutes. He was around ten seconds ahead of the two Swedes Erik Elmsäter and Tore Sjöstrand . In the 5000 meter run Pujazon finished eighth in Oslo in 14: 46.8 minutes.

In 1946 and 1947 Pujazon also won the Cross of Nations , the forerunner of the World Cross Country Championships . In 1948 he reached the final in the obstacle course at the Olympic Games in London, but did not finish the race.
