Tore Sjöstrand

Tore Sjöstrand ( Tore Ingemar Sjöstrand ; born July 31, 1921 in Huddinge , † January 26, 2011 ) was a Swedish athlete and Olympic champion in 1948 in the 3000 meter obstacle course .

Because of the Second World War , Sjöstrand was only able to compete in his first major international competition at the age of 25. At the European Athletics Championships in Oslo in 1946 , he won the bronze medal, behind the French Raphaël Pujazon and the Swede Erik Elmsäter .

He celebrated his greatest success at the 1948 Olympic Games in London. He won the gold medal in front of his compatriots Erik Elmsäter and Göte Hagström .

At the European Athletics Championships in Brussels in 1950 , Sjöstrand reached eighth place. He then ended his sports career.
