Damian Kallabis (born June 10, 1973 in Gliwice , Poland ) is a former German athlete .

Career

His greatest success was the surprising victory over 3000 meters obstacle (8: 13.10 min) at the European Championships in 1998 in Budapest . Furthermore, the Kallabis trained by Stéphane Franke was fourth in this discipline at the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville . At the 2000 Olympic Games, he came in 15th after a fall.

He won the World Cup final in 1998, and came second in the European Cup finals in 1999, 2000 and 2002. In 1998 and 2000 he was German champion. On August 11, 1999, Kallabis ran the still existing German record over the 3000 meter obstacle with 8: 09.48 minutes in Zurich . In 1998 there was suspicion of doping around Kallabis and his trainer Stéphane Franke in connection with the use of the blood thinner HES. At the end of 2004 he resigned.
