Patriz Ilg (born December 5, 1957 in Oberalfingen ) is a former German athlete who was one of the world's best 3,000 meter obstacle course athletes from 1978 to 1987 . His greatest success was the victory in 8: 15.06 min at the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki .

For this he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Carstens in 1983 .

Today Patriz Ilg is a sports and technology teacher at the community school in Westhausen called Propsteischule. As a local politician ( CDU ), he was the mayor of the Aalen district of Hofen .

Athletic career

Patriz Ilg was a total of eight times German champion over 3000 meters obstacle: 1978, 1980 to 1982 and 1985 to 1988.
