Hayle Ibrahimov

Hayle İbrahimov (birth name Haile Desta Hagos ; born January 18, 1990 in Mek'ele ) is an Azerbaijani long-distance runner of Ethiopian origin.

In February 2009, he received Azerbaijani citizenship. In the same year he set a national record over 3000 m with 7: 51.68 min and won gold over 5000 m and 10,000 m at the Junior European Championships .

The following year he failed at the World Indoor Championships in Doha despite a national indoor record in the run-up to over 3000 m. At the European Championships in Barcelona , he won the preliminaries over 5000 m with a national record and won the first bronze medal in athletics for Azerbaijan at major international championships in the final.

In 2011 İbrahimov won the silver medal over 3000 m in 7: 53.32 minutes at the European Indoor Championships in Paris behind Mo Farah . At the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 İbrahimov took sixth place.

In March 2013 he won the gold medal in the 3,000 meter run at the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden .
